Case Study: Modified container delivered through a 9ft gap

A modified container delivered and positioned through a 9ft gap, with a fixed refrigerated unit already in place right next to the access point. The space was tight, the angles were unforgiving, and the margin for error was tiny.

When other companies say “It can’t be done”, we say “When do you want it?”

Clock Barn Catering approached us with a delivery challenge that several other container companies had already rejected. They needed a modified container delivered and positioned through a 9ft gap, with a fixed refrigerated unit already in place right next to the access point. The space was tight, the angles were unforgiving, and the margin for error was tiny.

But for Container Mover, this is exactly the kind of project we’re built for.

The Challenge

Clock Barn Catering required a bespoke, modified unit supplied by 1st Containers UK Ltd to be delivered to their site. The container needed to be placed in a location with:

  • A narrow 9ft access gap
  • A static refrigerated unit that couldn’t be moved
  • Limited turning space
  • No safe margin for traditional lifting or manoeuvring equipment

Multiple companies had already visited the site and concluded that the container delivery was not possible. Traditional lifting methods, large vehicle access, and standard techniques simply wouldn’t work.

Our Solution

Our team assessed the site, measured every angle, and evaluated all potential risk points. Where others saw restrictions, we saw opportunities to innovate.

We collaborated with 1st Containers UK Ltd, who supplied the modified container, and together we planned a precise, controlled manoeuvre using our specialist container moving equipment.

At Container Mover, we don’t rely on oversized kit or guesswork- we use purpose-built moving systems designed for tight, restricted, or “impossible” locations.

How We Did It

Using our expert operators and specialist container moving equipment, we:

  1. Positioned our machinery perfectly within the narrow access space
  2. Carefully lifted and controlled the container without risk to surrounding structures
  3. Manoeuvred around the fixed refrigerated unit, maintaining complete stability
  4. Guided the container into its final position with precision down to the last millimetre

This entire move was completed smoothly, safely, and without disruption to the client’s operations.

No drama. No delays. No excuses. Just experience, planning, and the right equipment for the job.

The Outcome

Clock Barn Catering received their container exactly where they wanted it, despite being told by several suppliers that it simply couldn’t be done.

Our ability to take on challenging, awkward, restricted-access moves is what our customers rely on.
